Young Performers Ensemble
The Old Gem Young Performers Ensemble is a group of young actors who study voice, movement and characterization for the stage and perform in By Kids For Kids Productions and Combined Group Productions.
By Kids For Kids Productions
The casts of these shows are made up entirely of student actors. Public performances are held in the evenings and on weekends so family and friends can attend. It is a great way for beginning actors to experience the fun and excitement of live theater.
Combined Productions For Groups
The casts of these shows include adult members of the Old Gem Professional Acting Company. Students have the opportunity to act side by side with professionals.
In addition to evening and weekend public performances, these shows are performed for school groups who come to the theater for weekday matinees from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota. Actors must be available for the weekday matinees. We book these shows as groups call in. The performance schedule will be handed out during the first week of rehearsal.
Professional Company Productions
The Old Gem also produces shows with all-adult professional casts. The adult actors perform interactive shows that young audiences just love. These shows may be performed for groups and the public. Some of these shows tour to libraries, schools and performing arts centers. Email the box office to make reservations for these shows or to book a tour to your school, library or community group.

Who can join the Young Performers Ensemble?
Any student who will be at least 8 years old by the first day of rehearsal may participate. Because students performing in group productions will need to miss school for some performances, it is recommended only students who maintain a B average or better participate.
Do all students get a role?
Yes! We work hard to make sure everyone has a fun and challenging role.
How much is tuition?
$225 per session.
Who attends Old Gem shows?
Groups
School groups, churches, daycares, senior centers and other groups book shows to attend during the week. Generally these shows are booked for 10 am or 12:30 pm. We only schedule shows for days we have a group coming. The general public is welcome to buy tickets to the group performance as long as there is room. Call the boxoffice for information on when group shows are scheduled.
Public
Public shows are scheduled in the evenings and on weekends for most of our plays. Groups may also attend public performances with advance reservations.
